Yin is the stable more unmoving part of the Yin and Yang complementary principles in nature. Yin offers hidden aspects whereas Yang offers the moving, changing and more revealing aspects. Yin Yoga is based around these principles offering a grounded, deep and opening yoga practice. In class we create a beautiful warm space to rest in postures for much longer periods of time – up to 5 minutes. This allows the connective tissues, such as tendons, ligaments & fascia to have time to open and let go. In Yin we work on the lower part of the body where we have lots of connective tissue that benefits greatly from this practice. A restorative Friday evening class we have bolsters, candles, relaxing music and blankets for a well-earned relaxation in ‘shavasana’ at the end.
A calmer, more introverting practice this class is a great way to wind down after a busy week. It’s also really beneficial for sports people and athletes that experience tight legs, hips and some lower back pain. Whilst beginners can attend, you should have at least three months experience of yoga to get the best from the class.
This class will run monthly – Next one November 20th.
